Settling in my new home....

I cannot believe I have not posted since July!!  I made the move to my hometown of Auburn, NY from Garden City SC.  Needless to say, I have been busy-ha!  Love my house and the weather has been wonderful!  I am still unpacking boxes and changing addresses, etc.

Last Sunday I attended my old church for the first time since back and was greeted warmly as if I had never left 24 yrs. ago!  So good to see faces and get hugs.  I know I made the right decision after praying for over a year and a half since my Sweet Bill passed, to move back to our home town.  I was very lonely in SC once Bill was gone and I had to wait until God's timing was just right for me and here I am, thank you Jesus!  Just me and my little Lilly chihuahua.

President Obama passed through yesterday but did not visit the William H. Seward Home or the Harriet Tubman home here so many were disappointed.

I had such faith that the Lord would place me here and He did not disappoint me.  Stay strong in your faith and if God doesn't answer right away, be patient.  He is waiting for just the right moment to answer your prayers and he will never let you down.

When I pray several times a day I say, "thank you Jesus for my blessings, thank you Abba Father, thank you Holy Spirit for comforting me."  There is not much we can depend on in this world but we can depend on Jesus.

Work While you Wait upon the Lord

Goodness, where does the time go!!  The days have sped by and here it is the middle of November!

Our resident squirrel works constantly, finding seeds and acorns to store for the winter,  and when I throw him a peanut, he usually buries it-ha!  Here he or she is resting in one of the bird houses that he took over by chewing the opening to accommodate his size.  He needs to work so he can make it through the winter.

When the early Christians heard of the Second Coming of Christ, some of the people felt no need to work, that they would just remain idle until Christ came.  Paul in his second letter to Thessalonians, admonishes the idleness.
Labor of the Righteous
2 Thessalonians: 6-15

"Now we command you, brethren in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is living in idleness and not in accord with the tradition you have received from us.  For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not idle when we were with you, we did not eat any one's bread without paying, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you.  It was not because we have not that right but to give you in our conduct an example to imitate.  For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: If any one will not work, let him not eat.

For we hear that some of you are living in idleness, mere busybodies, not doing any work.  Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work in quietness and to earn their own living.  Brethren, do not be weary in well-doing."

So what should we do?  We need to be ever faithful in our wait for the Lord, doing good whenever and wherever we can.  If you do not work outside the home, you are working taking care of your family just the same.  Volunteering is a great way to serve the Lord while waiting.  Hospitals need both men and women to volunteer and could not do without volunteers.  You can also volunteer at Hospices.  Visit the sick and home bound.  There is always work for you do do.  Pray to be enlightened as to where you may be of service best for God.  I do alterations for others in our neighborhood.  I earn a little pin money and I charge a small amount for my work, much less than it would cost at a dry cleaners.  I like seeing people as I am pretty much home bound in the care of my hubby.  And people appreciate any little extra I do for them.  It is a great feeling.

God Bless and be productive while you are waiting on the Lord.

Teach me Lord, Teach me Lord, to Wait...

Again, my favorite quote is from the book of Isaiah 40:31  This tied right in with this beautiful picture of God's country and quote from the Psalms! Waiting on the Lord is hard some times but is so rewarding.  And when you are not trying to "push" things to happen, you are much calmer like the waters running over these beautiful stones...

This is the quote hand lettered and framed for me by my friend Esther and it hangs in our bedroom.  My husband who is fighting Multiple Myeloma Cancer for 6 yrs. now has not been feeling well at all and spends much time in the bedroom these days.  Last week I went in to see how he was doing and the sun shining in the window was hitting this frame...
"those that wait for the Lord shall renew their strength"

How appropriate it was and I was so struck that the first part of the quote was shining in God's sunlight, that I had to take a picture!  Shhh! God is speaking to us all the time if we just take the time to be quiet and listen....
I find God and Jesus everywhere because I am always looking for them in my day.  Are you looking for the Savior and His Father in your days?  It is wonderful to know that we can have a personal relationship with God.  We do not have to ask for intercessory prayers, we can speak directly to the Father and Son in our prayers!!
"They shall mount up as wings of eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint"
Teach me Lord, Teach me Lord to wait♫♫  We used to sing that in our church back home in NYS.  I love praising the Lord in Song!
To hear the song by the Gather Family Reunion in New Orleans performance click on the video in the side bar.
Please come back soon to visit, we love having your company and please leave a comment.
