Ain't it funny how time slips away?♫♫

I don't think any of us are ever totally prepared for Christmas in our earthly world.  We scurry here and there buying presents, food, greeting cards and the reason for the celebration is pushed to the back of our minds.  We are all wanting to put CHRIST back in Christmas so start with yourself.
Take time each day to focus on the wonderful blessed birth of our savior JESUS.  What a miracle he was....and still is.  In my journey with my Husband's Multiple Myeloma cancer, I turn to God for strength every day.  This February will be seven years since he was diagnosed and on chemo.  The chemo is no longer working and there is no cure.  He was given 5-10 yrs. so we are very happy to have another Christmas together.  He has started radiation treatments on his lower back however, to try to help the horrendous pain he suffers. 4 down and 9 to go daily except for weekends.  So I have been very busy driving to the radiation center.  He also had to have 2 more pints of blood after falling last Thursday in the night and losing much blood.  He is black and blue on half of his face and his eye is just now open again.
So I feel badly when I do not have time to write here on my Christian blog but I am thinking of you all and praying for all those in need in the side bar.  Little Rylan is doing well, he is a little miracle.  I also met 2 people at the radiation center this week, one with lung cancer and one with a brain tumor so I am praying for them as well.
Just remember that God is there for you through the storms of life, no matter how severe they may be.  So look up instead of down and thank the Father for being there in our times of need...

Merry CHRISTmas to all and to all-walk in the Light of Jesus.  Unto us a child is born...

♫♫"Long time ago in Bethlehem, so the Holy Bible say,
Mary's boy-child, Jesus Christ, was born on Christmas Day!
Hark now hear the angels sing, a new king born this day
And man can live forever more, because of Christmas Day!"♫♫

Do any of you remember Harry Bellafonte's album with this wonderful song on it?
JESUS is the reason for the season!  Put Christ back in Christmas.

The Birth of our Lord Jesus

Quoted from the NIV Matthew Henry Commentary 1992, Zondervan Publishers

Luke: Chapter 2

"The fullness of time had come when God would send forth his Son, and it was foretold that he would be born in Bethlehem.  Now here we have an account of the time, place and manner of it.

I. He was born at the time when the fourth monarchy was in its height.  He was born in the days of Caesar Augustus, when the Roman empire extended further than ever before or since, including Parthia one way, and Britain another way; so that it was tehn Terrarum orbis imperium-The empire of the whole earth.

2.  He was born when Judea had become a province of the empire, and taxed by it; as appears this, that when all the Roman empire was taxed, the Jews were taxed among the rest.  Jerusalem was taken by Pompey, the Roman General.  This was the first taxing that was made in Judea, the first badge of their servitude.

3:2 The place where our Lord Jesus was born is very well worth observing.   He was born in Bethlehem; so it was foretold (Mic. 5.2), the scribes so understood it (Matt. 2.5,6), so did the common people, John 7:42. The name of the place was significant.  Bethlehem means, the house of bread; a proper place for him to be born in who is the Bread of life, the Bread that came down from heaven."
Every detail of Christ's birth was divinely planned, divinely executed.  "The truths of Christ are worth keeping; and the way to keep them safe is by pondering them.  Meditation is the best help to memory."
The birth of Jesus could be nothing less than a miracle.  Thanking you Lord for such a wonderful gift that lasts for eternity!

This is my favorite artwork of Mary with infant Jesus.  I see so much in her face and their clothing suggests the little they had.  She is trusting God to take care of her precious son.  The Babe is the Word made flesh and so is humanly sleeping....  Mary is trusting yet there is sadness in her eyes.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!  Take time to pray and meditate on the babe that changed the world!  He still lives with us today, we need only reach out to find him.

The Flurry of Christmas Preparation...

A Felt Ornament my Mom Made Many Years Ago...
Good morning dear hearts!  It is 28 degrees here in SC at 10:35.  No snow, though.  Back in our hometown in NYS, they are having plenty of snow!  Warm snuggies to all of you who are experiencing snow...

In the hustle and bustle of commercial Christmas, it is hard to keep our focus on the true meaning, the birth of our Lord, Jesus.  Take a little time out every day to focus and read Luke Chapter 2. We learn about the incredible journey to Bethlehem and the birth of our Savior in a manger.  It only takes a few minutes and is so meaningful.  I like to picture myself as the little mouse in the corner who sees all.  There are no words to describe the event, that are worthy enough.

LUKE 2: 1-7 "In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be enrolled.  This was the first enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria.  And all went to be enrolled, each to his own city.  And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth to Judea to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be enrolled with Mary his betrothed, who was with child.  And while they were there, the time came for her to be delivered.  And she gave birth to her first born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger because there was no place for them in the inn."

Just imagine having to make this journey - great with child, riding on a Donkey!  And to give birth to your child in a stable for animals and having to lay your child in a manger (a bin where hey is placed for animals to eat).  Our precious Jesus, God's son had very humble beginnings.  Why was he not born in a Palace??  Ponder that one and think on why God chose this for Him.

God can use any place and any person for his instrument.  It matters not how rich or how poor you are.  You have a huge place in God's heart.  And all you need to do is invite Him into your heart to know perfect Joy!

Original Poetry:

That's Christmas!
©Kerrie O'Hearn Marquart

There is Joy in the air, That's Christmas!
There are smiles everywhere, That's Christmas!
There are Carols being sung, That's Christmas!
There is holly to be hung, That's Christmas!
There's a Babe whose Birthday has almost come!
   Baby Jesus, the Holy One!
THAT's Christmas!
May the Lord give you peace at this special time of year, May he take the stress of Christmas time and replace it with the Joy of anticipating the birthday of His Son.  Wishing you great blessings as the light of love fills your hearts with the true meaning of Christmas!
